Narrow aisle forklifts
Commonly utilized within warehouse operations is the Narrow Aisle Forklift. These types of forklifts are essential machines within the industry since their small size and excellent maneuverability enable warehouses to use space to maximum storing capacity. They can easily pass aisles as narrow as 1.8 meters wide, whereas standard lift trucks require 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
The two types are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The former require 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whilst the latter could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The narrow aisle forklift design features forks which are positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not have to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This design feature is the key to their suitability for limited spaces.
Some very narrow aisle forklifts come with optical or wire guidance systems which make sure that the forklift moves in a straight line down the aisle, which leaves the operator free to concentrate on load picking and placement.
The cushion tires which come with these kinds of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on smooth, paved surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors that is best used within indoor places. Propane-powered models are available also.
