Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential device within commercial businesses and industry since the year 1917. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through different kinds, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also evolved into specialized tires, with various types designed to meet particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
Rubber or solid polyurethane are the types of materials used to make cushion tires. They are suitable for indoor applications on surfaces that are smooth. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for various load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are usually utilized in warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with foam or air. They are offered in two types: radial or bias. Depending on the use, they are offered with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are usually used outdoors on uneven, rough surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires offer along with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are a great alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires that can either be foam, solid or pneumatic. These tires are suitable for loading and moving bulk items onto trucks or into processing machines. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts normally utilized at auto recyclers, lumberyards and construction sites.
