Change an LPG Cylinder
There are different kinds of sources that can power forklifts. They could run using liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many applications. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the equipment has to be refueled.
In order to avoid possible serious injury, specific precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be certain to wear the correct safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Make certain that you turned off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed securely. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Keep in mind that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never use any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
